“Abdominals come in many flavors” Doris Pasteleur Hall
This is one of my favorite quotes from Doris. The body is not parts, but a dynamic connectivity of 3 dimensional coordination. Especially with our culture stuck in so much sitting, we need to wake up the deeper and asleep muscles of the torso. In our upcoming workshop of Pilates and Embodied Anatomy we are going to explore this.
Part of waking the torso is understanding the subtle layers of dynamic stabilization. The diaphragm is the driver of this. Unfortunately 100 crunches is not the beginning road to wake up this connectivity.
