A journey about anatomy and movement
Anatomy Dances is about the shifting dances around the body to create and support movement. I bring together my studies of art, anatomy, dance, somatic practices, fitness, Pilates, yoga, Laban’s Space Harmony and Bartenieff Fundamentalstm.
Bartenieff Fundamentalstm. and Laban’s Space Harmony is a phenomenal approach how the body moves in space and one’s expression. Both also addresses how the body moves three dimensionally whether it is simple walking to complex spiral movements such as tai chi. I will bring examples into fitness, yoga, dance and pilates. Already in the Pilates world, Eve Gentry, who worked with Irmgard Bartenieff, brought a version of the Fundamentals to her teaching. Eve has influenced a majority of companies training Pilates teachers with their movement principles.
Online workshops –Recordings will be made of each session

Level I Sunday 9- 12:10 AM
Level II. Sunday 2 – 5:10 PM
Core is 3D
November 6, 2022
- Level I Intro to 3D models about the body: Biotensegrity, Bartenieff Fundamentalstm and Laban’s Space Harmony
- Level II Deeper Dives how the spine; cervical, thoracic and lumbar moves and how to improve its function. When the spine is not moving well, there will be hyper mobility above or below the stuck area. We will use Bartenieff Fundamentalstm to help make changes to the spine.
Sensing the Psoas and the Core December 4, 2022
Learning anatomy through drawing with Irene Dowd changed my understanding of the body. Drawing is touch. Do not worry about being an artist. This is for everyone!
Level I Sensing the Psoas
Level II Sensing the Core – Font & Back
Freeing the Ribs January 8, 2023
The ribs are a reflection of your spine, breath and function of the entire body. The ribs are not rigid.
Level I will explore the anatomy of the ribs, improving proper function
Level II The Ribs: A Reflection of the Spine, Breastbone and Breath. Applications to more complex movements of the body.
Hand-Scapula Relationship February 5, 2023
Level I Bartenieff Fundamental™ Hand -Scapula relationship addresses the intricate timings of the shoulder girdle with the phrasing of the torso.
Level II Deeper Dives into the mechanics of hand and the forearm and its coordinations to full arm movement.
Call to Arms. March 5, 2023
Level I Great arm work is a connection to the core. We will explore the anatomy of the connections of the shoulder girdle to open and close chain movement.
Level II is a deeper dive of the coordination of the ribs and spine to maximize function.
Hippiness and Legs April 23, 2023
Level I Our hip sockets are designed to allow level changes and walking. We will explore pelvic-femoral rhythm and its connections to the legs and knees.
Level II Knee Me and Its Relationship to Hip and Foot
Call to the Legs and Feet May 21, 2023
Our feet are the foundation for our entire body. When we improve the mechanics of the feet and ankles, function improves for the entire body. Both workshops will connect how improving lower function changes our standing, walking and alignment.
Level I Don’t be DeFeeted will concentrate on the foot
Level II The ankles and organization of legs over the foot.
Gait
Dates TBA Fall 2023
Upper body in Gait
We will explore how the spine moves in walking, how to access and improve the mechanics of gait. Especially with our culture in too much sitting, our spines has lost its resiliency.
Lower body in Gait
We will explore how the legs and feet move in gait. Applications will be brought how to improve lower body mechanics in walking.
