Movement a Reflection of Back Discomfort

When a client comes in with back discomfort, I look at how they coordinate their pelvis with their legs. In the simplicity of lifting a leg standing or supine, are they unleveling their pelvis to lift the leg a small amount. How does this pattern keep coming up in their workout.

For instance in footwork on the reformer, does the pelvis unlevel. I put my hand under their waist to listen to how the back is firing. I first have them go out in thirds on footwork to get them aware of what’s initiating. Sometimes the back over fires for the lack of leg strength. How a client initiates a movement is crucial in in recovery.
